Description
Z-Vat 2s are currently on backorder, they will become available again in approximately 2-4 weeks. Pre-order to reserve once they are back in stock.
Z-Vat 2 modifications are available now, an option to avoid the wait.
The Z-Vat 2 is an optimized glass-bottom resin tray compatible with the Formlabs Form 2 3D Printer*. It is built from a modified stock Form 2 tray. With this service you can transform your own Form 2 tray into a Z-Vat 2.
The process is easy- just ship us your new or used Formlabs Form 2 resin tray and we'll do the rest! You will receive back a like-new tank with glass enhancement that is ready for printing right out of the box. Service includes a fresh coat of PDMS (optical silicone) applied to your tray.
Advantages of printing with a glass Z-Vat:
• Z-Vat glass-bottom tanks are considerably easier to clean than acrylic tanks. Acrylic cannot be cleaned with alcohol, so if it comes into contact with resin or other substances the only option is often to throw it away.
• Being easier to clean means it is far easier to recoat the PDMS layer when it becomes cloudy. With a glass tank you can easily remove a worn PDMS layer and pour a new one for under $12. Save plastic from the landfill and save $$$$ by refurbishing your trays in-house. See recoat instructions here.
• Due to its optical qualities, printing with glass may produce superior parts vs. printing with acrylic. Though exacting test results are still pending, many users printing with the Z-Vat report the best prints they've ever experienced from their machines.
• By employing the original manufacturer's tray in its design, the Z-Vat 2 preserves all the functionality of the Form 2 3D Printer while utilizing the additional benefits of printing with glass.
Instructions for utilizing this service once you have purchased:
1. Drain all resin from the tray and thoroughly wipe up any remaining resin using alcohol and paper towels/cloths. Please make absolutely certain no resin remains in the tray. It will create a mess in shipping and may prevent us from performing the modification.
2. Pack the tray in its original box if available. You can ship it in this sturdy box alone. Do not pack the lid or wiper, these are not needed to perform the modification.
3. Ship your tray to:
